About the Farm
Background
Karl's parents, Paul and Betty, bought the farm in 1976 as a hobby farm. They moved from the Twin Cities and started milking cows. In 1987, they transitioned to beef cows. Karl took over the operation in 2007, and by 2014, he and Stephanie were married. The farm, named after Vance Creek, spans approximately 375 acres and is home to 40 cows, calves, and bulls.
Practices
The farm employs holistic and sustainable methods in managing pastures and hayfields. Practices include rotating pastures, using minimum tillage, and applying organic manure instead of synthetic fertilizers. These methods aim to promote healthy soil, which leads to nutritious and abundant grass. Rotational grazing allows grass to regrow and build better root systems, enhancing soil health.
The Rest
The farm offers free delivery within one hour of Stillwater, Minnesota. Visitors are welcome to explore the farm, which features a trout stream full of native-born brook and brown trout. The mission is to provide a healthy product beneficial to both the customer and the environment.
