About the Farm
Background
Elisa and her husband began gardening in a community garden in Philadelphia in 2005, which evolved into their life's work. They moved to their current farm in Hampstead, Maryland in 2012. The farm has since become known for its wide variety of cut flowers and specialty produce, including over 100 cultivated pawpaw fruit trees. Elisa's background as a modern dancer, clown, and construction worker has uniquely contributed to her farming approach.
Practices
The farm grows produce without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, focusing on promoting biodiversity and healthy soil life. Their ecological practices are designed to ensure that future generations can continue to grow in healthy soil. They emphasize the interconnectedness of farming practices, ecology, and human health.
The Rest
The farm sells directly to customers at the Hampden Farmers' Market on Saturdays from May to October and offers a 20-week CSA with pick-ups on the farm and in Hampden. They also provide flowers and produce for weddings, events, and restaurants in Maryland and DC. The farm is a floral design studio as well, working closely with couples getting married and florists.
