About the Farm
Background
The journey began at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, where the owners met while on active duty. Nine years later, their first 'kids' were Boer goats, followed by foster children who became their sons, and eventually purebred Nubian goats. The farm was established in 2019, and since then, it has grown into a family-centered operation deeply rooted in the philosophy of 'you are what you eat.'
Practices
The farm is in the process of transitioning to USDA certified Organic, a three-year journey. Animals are raised and fed organically, ensuring the food produced is nourishing and free from toxins. The Nubian goats graze on lush pastures and are supplemented with organic alfalfa/orchard grass hay, beet pulp, and non-GMO grain. Chickens are part of a free-range rotational system, allowing them access to grass, bugs, leaves, and flowers, which keeps them secure, happy, and well-nourished.
The Rest
The farm offers a CSA membership and manages the Stone Barn Community Gardens, encouraging customers to engage directly with the farming process. They specialize in raw Nubian goat milk, available through a herd-share contract. The farm also donates a significant portion of its goods to families or individuals in need through charitable organizations. The owners believe in the power of real food and real intentions to make a positive impact.
