About the Farm
Background
TurnerKelley Farm began in March 2011 in Stockton, California, driven by a desire to eat healthier foods and control how their food was grown. Over the years, they have dedicated themselves to learning about animal husbandry and improving their farm to provide an optimal environment for their livestock.
Practices
The farm employs humane and natural practices, avoiding medicated feeds and antibiotics for their chickens. Egg layers free-range from a movable hen house, accessing grass, insects, and sunshine. Pastured poultry are raised in movable bottomless pens, rotated daily for fresh grass and insects. Belted Galloway cattle are grass-fed with no growth hormones or grain, and have free-choice access to kelp for additional vitamins and minerals. The farm emphasizes the importance of allowing animals to roam freely and live stress-free lives.
The Rest
The farm raises a few Berkshire hogs each year and focuses on producing healthy food by ensuring their animals are healthy and well-treated. Visitors can learn more by visiting their website.
