About the Farm

Background

Prized for their rich flavor and beautiful plumage, heritage turkeys are the ancestors of the common Broad-breasted White breed of turkey. Known for their moist and flavorful meat, these birds owe their taste to diverse diets and extended lifespans. The farm has been recognized for its humane and organic practices, providing fresh and frozen heritage breed turkeys, chickens, and eggs to the local community.

Practices

Heritage breed turkeys are raised using organic methods, though not certified organic. They range freely during daylight hours on open green pastures, which include a mix of clover and assorted grasses, and have access to 15 acres of woods. No antibiotics are ever used, and the birds are never fed any animal protein. Their diet is supplemented with Poulin grain, available at all times. The turkeys help control pest problems by dining on fresh grass and insects.

The Rest

The farm offers a variety of products including poults, pasture-ready turkeys, adult birds, fresh and frozen heritage breed turkeys, fresh whole chickens, frozen chickens, and chicken eggs. Despite the higher costs and longer time required to raise heritage breeds compared to Broad Breasts, the farm remains committed to its mission of humane and organic farming practices.
