About the Farm

Background

Jean and Wendy Palthey established Tunbridge Hill Farm in 1991 on land that was originally part of a small hillside dairy owned by the Farnham family. The farm has since become known for its exceptional flavor in all its produce, thanks to the rich soil that has been cultivated over the years.

Practices

The farm follows a model of small intensive diversified ecological farming. They adhere to organic practices, though they are not USDA certified, preferring to maintain a direct relationship with their customers. The farm's approach emphasizes the health of the soil, which they believe imparts unique regional flavors to their produce. They avoid using tractors for most tasks due to the close spacing of their beds, allowing for intensive production on relatively little acreage.

The Rest

The farm's produce is known for its exceptional flavor, and they offer a variety of vegetables through their pop-up farm stand and CSA programs. The Paltheys believe in raising food that they enjoy eating and feeding to their own children, without relying on FDA approval.
