About the Farm
Background
For over a decade, Tucker Farms has invested in a plot of land on the banks of the Oostanaula River in Rome, Georgia. Known for growing specialty lettuces, greens, and herbs, as well as seasonal garden vegetables, the farm supplies produce to chefs across metro Atlanta, Northwest Georgia, North/Central Alabama, and Tennessee. The farm partners with restaurants that embrace sustainability and a seed-to-plate philosophy.
Practices
Tucker Farms employs gentle and sustainable growing methods that respect the farm's dynamic ecosystem. They utilize hydroponic greenhouses to grow lettuces and greens year-round and hoop houses to extend the growing seasons. The farm never uses chemical fungicides, herbicides, or pesticides, opting instead for exclusion methods, traps, and beneficial insects to control pests. They prioritize non-GMO seeds, many of which are heirloom varieties and certified organic. Practices such as cover cropping, composting, and crop rotation are used to maintain soil fertility and plant health.
The Rest
In addition to supplying restaurants, Tucker Farms offers a 'Shopping Cart CSA' for individuals and families. Their produce can also be found in Fresh Harvest boxes, Garnish & Gather meal kits, Stop Think Chew holistic prepared meals, and occasionally through Rise n’ Shine Organic Farm and Farmers Fresh CSA. The farm takes pride in connecting directly with customers and providing nutrient-dense, delicious food.
