True Cost Farm

Jack and Betsy McCann founded the farm in 2010 after becoming frustrated with the shortcuts taken in meat production. They started with a hobby farm to feed their family, which grew into a larger operation with over 2000 member families. Jack transitioned from a career as an entrepreneur and management consultant, while Betsy, passionate about cooking, appreciated the natural harmonies on the farm. The farm now partners with other local farmers to meet their high standards.

The farm raises animals on open green pastures, ensuring they have space to roam. All produce is 100% organic, and animals receive only transition or certified organic grains, all non-GMO. The beef and lamb are 100% grass-fed and dry-aged. The farm avoids chemicals and harmful substances, focusing on improving soil health, restoring native prairies, and protecting lakes and streams. Their farming methods act as a carbon sink, capturing more carbon than they emit. They use slow-growing breeds for better texture and richer flavor, and heirloom produce varieties are harvested at their peak.

The farm offers a variety of products including pasture-raised eggs, organic-fed chicken, grass-fed beef, no-soy grass-fed pork, organic-seasoned sausages, hand-crafted deli meats, and organic grass-fed milk. They provide direct-to-home deliveries and emphasize the importance of respecting animals, the land, and future generations. The farm also supports local farming families and encourages exploring new types of food and cooking methods.
