About the Farm
Background
Trombly Gardens originated from Sunny Prairie Farm, which began in 1950 with 4 cows and 500 chickens. Initially a chicken farm, it transitioned into a 400-cow dairy farm before converting to a produce and beef farm in 2000. The farm now spans 150 acres with an additional 200+ acres under cultivation.
Practices
The farm employs diversified farming practices, raising beef and pork, and cultivating a wide array of produce. Greenhouses are utilized for growing annuals, perennials, and vegetable plants, while fields are planted with seasonal crops such as strawberries, summer squash, zucchini, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, and sweet corn. The farm also engages in community-supported agriculture (CSA) and offers various share options.
The Rest
Trombly Gardens features a year-round farm stand that provides farm-raised beef, pork, eggs, local milk, and ice cream. Seasonal activities include a corn maze, hay rides, and a pumpkin festival in the fall. The farm also participates in local farmers' markets and offers customizable gardening products such as bagged soil and window boxes. Additionally, they provide a flexible Farm Bucks gift card program and various CSA share options, including bakery, egg, flower bouquet, and meat shares.
