Touchstone Grass Fed Beef
About
Founded in 1998 in Elizabeth, CO by Brad James, the ranch initially focused on providing better-tasting beef to neighbors. In 2000, the operation moved to Lusk, WY, managing a herd of 200-300 cattle and expanding sales to Wyoming and Colorado. By 2017, the ranch relocated to Torrington, WY, where it continues to operate. Brad, with a background in business and medical fields, has dedicated his life to ranching, studying genetic testing in cows and the benefits of grass-fed beef. The ranch has been featured in numerous articles and magazines for its high-quality beef.
The ranch employs humane and respectful handling of cattle, allowing them to free-range and graze on pastures without confinement in feedlots. The cattle are grass-fed and grass-finished, with no added hormones or antibiotics. Beef is custom processed at small USDA-inspected facilities in Wyoming and Colorado, primarily in the fall but also available throughout the year. The ranch partners with neighboring ranches that share the same practices and genetics.
The ranch offers beef in quarters, halves, and wholes, with processing fees included in the price per pound. Grass-fed beef is known for higher CLA content, a near-ideal Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio, and higher quantities of beta carotene and Vitamins A and D compared to corn-fed beef. The beef is dry-aged for about 14 days to enhance tenderness and flavor. Customers can reserve beef online or contact the ranch for availability.
