Tosche Homestead is the product of a lifelong dream and a lot of hard work. For years, the founders were homestead dreamers living in a small apartment in West Des Moines. In late 2020, their dream became reality when they found their perfect homestead, complete with a 130-year-old farmhouse, pond, barn, and plenty of space. Stacy, who grew up on a 40-acre farm in Southern Iowa, is the primary farmer. They started with some chickens and a small market garden, which soon expanded significantly. In 2023, they decided to scale back the market garden to focus more on their animal enterprises, including breeding Cream Legbar chickens and establishing Cashmere fiber goats and a dairy doe.

The farm grows organically, avoiding synthetic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. Their chickens are fed only organic feed and are allowed to free-range, consuming bugs and grass. They use 100% home-compostable packaging to reduce plastic waste and are committed to improving soil health throughout their distribution network.

The farm offers subscription Veggie Boxes that include coaching and support for using the wide variety of produce they grow. They have pick-up locations in West Des Moines and Winterset. Additionally, they sell raw goat milk, which is legal in Iowa for producers with 10 or fewer dairy animals. They are members of several professional and trade organizations, including Practical Farmers of Iowa, Iowa Specialty Crop Growers Association, and the American Poultry Association.
