Tonn's Marketplace

Tonn's Orchard was started by Herbert and Arlene Tonn over fifty years ago when they bought land in Burlington, cleared the woods by hand, and built a barn. Herb began planting fruit trees, built a greenhouse, and opened a small roadside stand to sell his extra crops. As customers became hooked on his fresh-picked fruit and vegetables, the clientele quickly grew. To accommodate the growing demand, Herb purchased ten acres in Terryville to expand the orchard. The entire family helped with picking and selling the produce, and the farm store expanded with a new farm stand and sales room. Farmers Markets became a significant outlet, with over five markets weekly from June through October.

The farm respects its past while looking to bring farming into the 21st century. Located at two different locations in Burlington, CT, the farm has several fields with a diverse lineup of vegetables growing every season. Given the ever-changing weather in Connecticut, several vegetables are grown in greenhouses, including over 1,000 tomato plants.

The farm operates a store and participates in multiple Farmers Markets weekly from June through October. The farm's beautiful orchard spans well over 10 acres in Plymouth, CT.
