About the Farm
Background
Located three miles southwest of Westfield and twelve miles from Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua County, New York, Toboggan Hill Farm spans a two-acre market garden, 60 acres of pasture, and 20 acres of woods. Known for its wide range of products, the farm has become a staple at local markets such as the Fredonia Winter Market, Westfield Farmers' and Artisans' Market, and the Bestor Fresh Market at Chautauqua Institution. The farm also offers a vegetable CSA from May to October with several pickup locations.
Practices
The farm's animals, including pigs, goats, and chickens, are fed organic grain, while sheep are grass-fed. All animals have access to the outdoors. The farm employs organic seeds when available and adheres to good agricultural practices such as crop rotation, companion planting, and cover crops. Artificial fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides are never used, ensuring the health of both the land and the produce.
The Rest
In addition to selling at various markets, the farm sells products directly from the farm year-round. Visitors are welcome but are encouraged to call ahead. The farm also produces Concord grapes and offers a variety of maple syrup products. Customers can join the farm's email list to receive updates on products, the CSA, and farm events.
