About the Farm
Background
Founded in 2006 by Pete & Cindy Woltz, Timber Ridge Cattle Company emerged from the sale of a family-owned commercial feedlot. The Woltz family shifted from an aggressive antibiotic program to a healthier beef production, focusing on both the cattle and the meat. Their products are known for their high Omega-3 content, achieved through a unique flax-feeding regimen.
Practices
Timber Ridge Cattle Company hand-feeds their cattle flax daily, resulting in beef with significantly higher Omega-3 content and a balanced Omega 6 to Omega-3 ratio. The farm operates hormone-free and feed-additive free, ensuring the meat is lean and healthy. The cattle are processed at a small, family-owned, federally inspected facility that handles only 5-6 head per day, contrasting sharply with the thousands processed at large commercial plants. This careful handling ensures exceptional product cleanliness, safety, and reliability.
The Rest
Their products, including beef sticks, summer sausage, and jerky, contain no MSG or sodium nitrite, using celery juice as a natural preservative instead. The smoked meat process used ensures that healthy fats are preserved without converting into trans-fats. Timber Ridge's products do not require refrigeration, making them ideal for camping, traveling, or packed lunches. The farm's commitment to health and sustainability is backed by university studies showing the nutritional benefits of their flax-fed beef.
