About the Farm
Background
April Beardsley, after a life of adventure from the army to the arctic, found her calling in homesteading and dairy farming. She bought her first dairy cow and discovered the benefits of raw milk, leading her to establish a micro dairy to supply local families with this nutrient-rich product. The farm is located in Deer Island, Oregon, with breathtaking views of the Columbia River.
Practices
The cows are on fresh pasture 365 days a year, supplemented with hay, alfalfa, and a grass seed mix during milking. The farm prioritizes the health of their cows, aiming to prevent injury or illness and treating organically when necessary. Antibiotics are used only in rare, extreme conditions. The cows, all Jerseys, are known for their high cream content and delightful personalities.
The Rest
Members of the herdshare program gain access to grass-fed ground beef and raw milk classes. The farm emphasizes the safety and quality of their milk through regular testing. Pickup locations for raw milk are available in Deer Island and Scappoose, Oregon. The farm's cows, Daphne and Ava, are beloved for their unique personalities, adding a personal touch to the dairy experience.
