Thunder 5 Ranch

Operating for 12 years, the farm has grown from a small egg producer into one of the best-known and trusted farm-to-fork producers in Southern Illinois. Known for their heritage breeds and diverse product offerings, they have built a reputation for reliability and quality in the local community.

Animals are raised in a multi-species rotational pasture-based system, emphasizing permaculture and working with nature. The farm rejects third-party certifications in favor of an open gate policy and full transparency. Gardens cover 4 acres and are managed without chemicals or pesticides, using composted manures from their livestock. Modern tools like electric fence chargers and tractors are used alongside traditional manual labor.

The farm offers an active internship program with opportunities for apprenticeships and permanent positions. Products are available at farmers markets, an on-farm store, direct weekly deliveries, and through a members club/CSA. Whole hogs for freezer pork are also offered.
