About the Farm
Background
Founded in 1709, the farm has a rich heritage and is located on the Brandywine Battlefield in West Chester, Chester County. Known for its naturally grown vegetables, the farm has expanded over the years to meet the demand for local produce. It also offers a variety of specialty items, including hormone and antibiotic-free meats, award-winning olive oil, local cheeses, honey, jellies, and ice cream.
Practices
The farm practices sustainable agriculture and offers internships that teach organic food production. Interns help with growing, marketing, and producing crops, as well as assisting with educational classes. The farm collaborates with other farmers to trade and support the local agricultural community.
The Rest
The farm features a colonial classroom for various educational activities such as bread making, candle and soap making, and canning. It also offers tours of the Brandywine Battlefield and has a space for events like baby showers and weddings. The farm is home to animals like Daisy the donkey, Rue the mini pony, goats, and Clover the pet pig. Additionally, the farm is building a pipe organ with over 2,300 pipes.
