About the Farm

Background

Since its inception, the farm has been dedicated to providing local, fresh, and nutrient-dense produce to the community. Known for their summer CSA program, the farm has quickly filled its membership quota. The farm has expanded its reach by participating in local farmers markets and offering a variety of heirloom vegetables and pasture-raised eggs.

Practices

The farm employs certified organic and regenerative practices that prevent nutrient leaching and sequester carbon, contributing to a healthier ecosystem. With 5,760 square feet of greenhouse space and additional caterpillar tunnels, the farm maximizes its growing season while minimizing its carbon footprint. Techniques such as low tunnels in the fields help protect early plantings from frost and trap heat, ensuring a robust start to the growing season. The farm's philosophy emphasizes the importance of soil biology and the natural rhythms of the environment, avoiding excessive use of resources like propane for heating.

The Rest

The farm offers a summer CSA program with multiple pickup locations, including Brighton, Fenton, and Ortonville, with plans to add Frankenmuth in 2024. CSA members enjoy a direct relationship with the farm, with the flexibility to request specific produce and access to the farm for visits. The farm also focuses on reducing waste by using reusable and recyclable packaging materials. Additionally, the farm is open to hosting interns interested in marketing and agronomy, providing a hands-on learning experience in sustainable farming practices.
