About the Farm
Background
Founded by Andy, who began the pastry department, The Pantry has grown into a bustling multi-faceted shop in downtown Fairfield, CT. With a background in the restaurant business and a degree from the Culinary Institute of America, Andy has worked in various food establishments from New York to Paris. His wife Mel, with her keen eye, helps out front in the store. Kirsten, the Executive Chef and a CIA graduate, has been with The Pantry since pre-opening and became a business partner after about 7-8 years. Paul, the GM, has extensive experience in the food business across the US. Chef Daniel Dhimitër Monroe, inspired by Julia Childs, brings his culinary skills to the team.
Practices
Kirsten, a native of Vermont, is the biggest proponent of locally sourced and organic ingredients. The Pantry emphasizes the use of high-quality ingredients and respects the process of cooking professionally. The team’s passion for good food drives their commitment to providing superior food choices.
The Rest
The Pantry offers catering services and features award-winning pastries, a deli and salad bar, specialty and mainstream groceries, top-quality meats and seafood, and some sundries. Their take-home food rivals restaurant quality at competitive prices. The Pantry also shares recipes and instructional videos on their website and YouTube channel.
