About the Farm
Background
In 2018, Steve and Emily Forbes left their corporate jobs in the city to start a family farm in rural NE Utah, driven by a passion for healthy eating and a desire to provide high-quality, local food to their community. Their journey began with a basil plant on a downtown condominium windowsill and evolved into a full-fledged farming operation. They are committed to working together as a family and sharing their love of farming with their local community.
Practices
The farm employs regenerative agricultural practices, focusing on soil health and nutrient-dense produce. They use non-GMO, organic seeds and avoid synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides. The farm raises pastured poultry, pigs, yaks, and bees, ensuring animals forage in their natural environments. The heart of their operation is a diverse market garden where they grow over 70 different crops, from root vegetables and greens to tomatoes and cucumbers.
The Rest
The farm offers a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, providing members with weekly boxes of fresh produce, with options to add meat, eggs, or honey. They also host Farm to Table dinners featuring their farm-fresh ingredients and run a guesthouse through Airbnb for visitors looking to experience farm life. The Forbes family values quality time, community engagement, education, wellness, and high-quality hard work over convenience.
