About the Farm
Background
In 2006, Ellen Krzemien formed The Home Staging Source, a pioneering real estate staging company in Western New York. Around that time, she returned to her century-old family farm, initially bustling with vegetable farming. She began growing unique cut flowers in the nutrient-rich soil for her staged properties and set out surplus flowers at a roadside vegetable stand. The flowers quickly sold out, leading her to study floral industry trends and become a Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener. By 2015, she amended her business certificate to embrace flower farming fully, transforming 200 feet of flowers into 4 acres of U-pick flower fields. The farm has become a beloved destination, even hosting eleven marriage proposals.
Practices
The farm prioritizes sustainability through integrated pest management (IPM), water conservation, crop rotation, and a focus on soil health, local sourcing, biodiversity, and energy efficiency. They also source and reuse vessels, primarily vintage porcelain and ceramic, for flower orders to ensure an eco-friendly character and charm.
The Rest
The farm offers a weekly CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm share subscription and thousands of sunflowers from July through October. Visitors can enjoy DIY flower buckets, flower bars for events, and a picturesque setting ideal for photography. The farm hosts various events, including birthday parties, wedding ceremonies, and bridal showers, providing a unique and charming space for celebrations.
