About the Farm
Background
Founded in 1982 by Joseph Gilbert, the farm began as a tractor-pulled fruit stand and has evolved into a fully-functional, year-round vegetable and fruit farm with greenhouses. Over the years, it has grown to include a farm store, kitchen, meat and seafood department, and garden center. The farm is known for providing local, healthy, and wholesome food to Columbia County and surrounding areas for over 40 years.
Practices
All vegetables, leafy greens, and fruits are grown without pesticides. The farm specializes in local, all-natural, and organic products, and carries produce and products from over 100 local vendors. The farm also offers hydroponically grown greens and operates greenhouses to ensure year-round production.
The Rest
The farm store is open 364 days a year and offers a variety of local products including honey, maple syrup, farm-fresh eggs, dairy products, and baked goods. The kitchen prepares homemade scones, cookies, muffins, soups, pesto, salsa, hummus, pickles, and salads daily. During the summer, visitors can enjoy pick-your-own berries and fresh-cut flower bouquets. The farm also features a cidery that produces small-batch hard cider and offers local craft beer, wine, and spirits. Farm tours are available, and the farm has been recognized with the Victoria A. Simons Locavore Award for providing quality local food.
