About the Farm
Background
The farm has established itself as a diverse operation, focusing on both fiber and meat production. Known for its friendly farm animals and interactive guest experiences, it has become a local hub for fresh produce, meats, and handcrafted goods. The farm hosts an on-farm Farmer's Market the first weekend of each month, featuring local vendors, arts and crafts, and even an ice cream truck during the summer months.
Practices
The farm raises alpacas and angora goats for fiber, and rabbit, quail, and heritage chicken for meat. They maintain total control over their meat production, from birth to butcher, ensuring the quality and healthiness of their products. The farm is licensed by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) to process rabbit, quail, and heritage chicken on-site. Their heritage hens and quail hens are prolific layers, keeping their incubator and fridge full. The farm also uses natural dyes for some of their alpaca products, which include socks, hats, gloves, and yarn.
The Rest
The farm store is stocked with meats processed in their SCDA-inspected facility and luxurious alpaca products. They offer a variety of workshops and demonstrations, such as dyeing yarn with natural dyes and building chick brooder boxes. Crochet, knitting, and Tunisian crochet classes are available each spring. The farm and store are open every Saturday from 9am-2pm, and Monday-Thursday from 4pm-6pm. It is recommended to check their website or call ahead before visiting.
