About the Farm

Background

Founded in 1995 when the owners moved to Washington County and purchased 148 acres, the farm has grown from one weedy acre to ten acres of crops, five greenhouses, and a variety of produce. Over the years, the farm has expanded its offerings to include 65 different vegetables, herbs, and fruits, attending the Glens Falls Farmers Market and starting a CSA in 1998, which now has 85 members.

Practices

The farm employs sustainable practices such as crop rotation, reduced tillage, and the use of cover crops and compost to maintain soil health. They avoid synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, focusing on growing tasty and healthy crops. The farm is protected by a conservation easement held by the Agricultural Stewardship Association, ensuring the land remains open farmland forever.

The Rest

The farm donates 1% of its gross proceeds to the Agricultural Stewardship Association and provides produce to Community Action and the Capital City Rescue Mission. They are hiring for the 2023 season, seeking workers willing to commit to a full season and take on significant responsibilities in farm operations. Pay includes $2000 a month and housing, with an emphasis on learning and enjoying the farming process.
