About the Farm
Background
Located just outside Austin in Georgetown, Texas Worm Farm started small but has grown significantly over the last 10 years. Initially named for its Texas roots, the farm has expanded operations to include a partnership in Georgia to meet increasing demand. Known for their high-quality worms, they have been featured in Georgetown's 'The View' Magazine.
Practices
The farm generates its own rich, dark compost using leaves and grass clippings from their landscape maintenance business, Greener Image. This compost is used to raise worms and topdress turf on maintained properties. The worms, which include European and African night crawlers and red wigglers, are excellent composters and produce nutrient-rich castings. These castings are screened multiple times to ensure quality and are used as organic fertilizer, full of microbial activity and micronutrients.
The Rest
The farm's worms are not only great for composting but also serve as lively fishing bait. They raise, feed, screen, clean, weigh, package, and ship their worms with consistent procedures to ensure quality. Customers may receive packages shipped from Georgia due to their operational expansion.
