About the Farm
Background
The Rohde Family has grown olives in Templeton since 2008, raising their children to work and be part of a producing farm. Templeton, located in California's Central Coast, has a climate similar to the Mediterranean, making it ideal for olive ranches and vineyards. The family is committed to thoughtful, sustainable agriculture and has won gold at the California Mid-State Fair for their olive oil.
Practices
The farm uses no pesticides and is non-GMO, relying on solar power and eco-friendly, recyclable materials. Olive pulp is spread back into the grove to replenish nutrients, and pruned branches are mulched into the soil. Water conservation is achieved through drip irrigation at night to minimize evaporation. Donkeys assist with weeding, further reducing the need for chemical interventions.
The Rest
The farm offers a skin and hair care line made from their olive oil, and visitors can book appointments for tastings. The olive oil is noted for its high levels of polyphenols and health benefits. The farm is deeply connected to its faith, as reflected in their use of Psalm 19:1.
