About the Farm
Background
Located 25 miles southwest of Boston and southeast of Worcester, the farm spans 65 acres and has a rich history of community engagement. Known for its diverse produce offerings, the farm has become a local staple, offering a variety of u-pick opportunities and hosting numerous events such as birthday parties, concerts, and hayrides. The farm stand and CSA have been pivotal in connecting directly with consumers, providing fresh produce and a sense of community. In 2018, the farm expanded its offerings with a new farm stand and commercial kitchen, enhancing its farm-to-table experience.
Practices
The farm employs natural growing methods for almost all of its crops, with the exception of IPM sweet corn and apples. This approach emphasizes the health of the soil and the surrounding ecosystem, ensuring that the produce is as fresh and flavorful as possible. The integration of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for certain crops highlights a balanced approach to pest control, minimizing chemical use while protecting crop health.
The Rest
The farm is open to the public during the season, offering a variety of u-pick options including flowers, sunflowers, and blueberries. The Farmer's Porch Restaurant provides a true farm-to-fork experience, with menus inspired by the seasonal bounty of the farm and other local producers. The farm also features an ice cream shop with products from Maple Valley Creamery. Visitors are encouraged to check the website for hours and events, and note that pets are not allowed on the property due to the Massachusetts Food Safety Modernization Act.
