About the Farm
Background
Located in Wahkiakum County above the Columbia River, this small 6-acre forest farm has become known for its commitment to providing nutritious, flavorful, and healthy food, eggs, and luxurious wool to the community. The farm offers a year-round Wool CSA and a Vegetable/Berry CSA, with produce also available at the Wahkiakum Fair Farmers Market in Skamokawa.
Practices
The farm employs sound forest management to create a diverse and resilient ecosystem. They raise flowers, herbs, berries, and heirloom vegetables organically, without the use of pesticides, GMOs, or growth hormones. OMRI amendments are utilized, and pest control is managed through floating row covers, hand-picking insects, and planting beneficial insect plants in borders and beds.
The Rest
The farm plans special events like 'Lunch with the Lambs' and farm tours, with details available on their webpage. They emphasize the philosophy of 'Healthy Plants, Healthy Animals, Healthy Food, Healthy Community' and offer various CSA memberships, including options for spinners, felters, and rug hookers.
