About the Farm
Background
Symphony Farm began when Jonathan, after years of working at farm schools and internships, decided around 2005 to invest in his own cows during the organic dairy boom. After much effort, he met his partner Meg Kane, and they transitioned to a four-cow raw milk, direct market farm. They signed a lease for a house and barn in Washington, Vermont, marking a new chapter in their farming journey.
Practices
The farm operates as a non-certified organic, pastured, naturally grown, biodynamic farm. Their approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of farming practices, ecology, and human health, ensuring that their methods nurture the land and produce high-quality, nutritious food.
The Rest
In addition to their farming activities, they have built a sauna on their property, which serves as a spiritual and physical rejuvenation space for them. They view it as a way to detoxify, reinvigorate, and prepare for the week ahead. The farm's philosophy is grounded in the practical realities of farming and raising children, focusing on the immediate needs of work and rest.
