About the Farm
Background
Spring of 2008 marked a significant transition to 100% organic grain to supplement the pastured diet of the chickens. By fall of the same year, the farm planned to introduce duck eggs to their offerings. The farm has been known for its mixed flock of chickens and the variety of eggs they produce, including brown, green, white, and chocolate eggs.
Practices
The farm employs organic practices, ensuring that their pastures are free from pesticides and herbicides. Chickens are allowed to roam freely on these pastures, enjoying a diet rich in bugs and natural tidbits. At night, they roost in a coop for protection from predators. The grains provided to the chickens are free of by-products, antibiotics, or hormones, and there is a commitment to transitioning to 100% organic grain.
The Rest
Eggs are available year-round at $3 per dozen. From May to September, a variety of vegetables grown using organic methods are also available. The farm encourages potential visitors to check the website for availability updates and to call or email before visiting, as hours vary. The farm is closed on Sundays. Additionally, they offer a CSA program from June to October, providing fresh, seasonal produce to their members.
