About the Farm
Background
Sunset View Creamery has been a cornerstone of the Finger Lakes community since 1905, when George Hoffman and his wife Georgia purchased the 348-acre farm. Over the years, the farm has grown from a modest herd of 10 Holsteins to over 85 cows, including Holsteins, Brown Swiss, and Ayrshires. The farm has remained in the Hoffman family for five generations, with Ron, Jeremy, and Jess continuing the tradition of dairy farming and cheese making.
Practices
The farm emphasizes exceptional care in raising, feeding, and handling their cows, which results in high-quality milk and exceptional tasting farmstead cheeses. The milk and cheese are processed on-site in a NYS Ag & Markets and USDA inspected facility. The cows are never treated with hormones and are free of antibiotics, ensuring the purity and quality of the dairy products.
The Rest
Visitors can enjoy a variety of farm experiences, including self-guided walking tours, guided tours, cow cuddling, and learning to milk a cow. The farm also offers a Dairy Discovery Camp and Spring Calf Minis. The on-farm store sells fresh Cream on Top milk, cheeses, and other locally produced goods. The farm is active on social media, with accounts on Facebook and Instagram at @svcreamery.
