About the Farm
Background
The farm began as a personal dream to address pain points in the current food system, driven by a desire for nutrient-dense meat and humane animal management. The Gibsons sold their house in Huntington, WV, moved to rural Ohio, and started the farm in 2019. They have since grown over 200 chickens and expanded their operations to provide authentic, healthy food to families in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Practices
The farm employs silvopasture techniques, allowing pigs to roam and forage in the woods, expressing their natural behaviors. Animals are fed the highest quality non-GMO feed and are moved based on soil disturbance levels, enhancing the earth and diversifying their diet with grass, legumes, forbs, roots, and bugs. This approach ensures the nutrient density of the final product and fosters the health of both the animals and the land.
The Rest
The farm emphasizes the importance of knowing where food comes from and how it is produced. They invite customers to visit and learn about their farming practices. The Gibsons believe in transparency and have built their farm to prioritize the health of their family and community. They also moved their screenprinting business to the farm, integrating their new lifestyle with their entrepreneurial endeavors.
