About the Farm

Background

Founded in 2012 by Fred and Serena, the farm began with a small flock of chickens for family and friends and quickly expanded due to high demand. Situated on 7 acres adjacent to Fred's family’s 180-acre farm in Gerald, MO, the farm has grown to include a variety of livestock and offers classes and consultation services. Fred's background includes working on a research ship in the Antarctic before returning to his roots to revive the family farm.

Practices

The farm employs rotational grazing for their Belted Galloways and American Milking Devons, ensuring the cattle are grass-fed with no hormones, antibiotics, or grain. Poultry are raised on pasture with access to grass and insects, and are given a custom non-GMO grain ration mixed and fermented on the farm. Tamworth pigs are allowed to root and graze on pasture, supplementing their diet with a non-GMO grain ration. The farm emphasizes respect, kindness, and love for all animals, using chore time to monitor health and provide enrichment. Soil health is prioritized through the management of pastures, bottomlands, woods, and native grasslands.

The Rest

The farm is a dealer for Fertrell animal supplements, soil amendments, and organic insect/disease control products. Visitors can stay in a cabin on the farm, which offers various amenities and activities such as guided nature hikes, farm chores experiences, and crafting lessons. The farm store sells meat and eggs, and each visit includes a farm tour. Nearby attractions include dining, antiquing, wineries, and outdoor activities like kayaking and fishing at the Bourbouse River.
