About the Farm

Background

The Stuart Family has been farming in western Connecticut since 1929, starting with Henry Stuart's purchase of the original family farm. Today, the farm is managed by Billy and Deb Stuart, along with their son Christian, and spans approximately 800 acres across New Milford, Bridgewater, and Roxbury. Known for their exceptional grass-finished beef, pastured pork, and pastured chicken, the farm has been Animal Welfare Approved since 2008.

Practices

The farm raises Red Angus and Red Angus crossbred cattle, selecting breeding bulls from Pharo Cattle Company based on ultrasound scores for marbling, tenderness, fleshing ability, and moderate frame size. Their pigs, a Berkshire/Duroc cross, and Freedom Ranger chickens thrive on outdoor pastures. The farm is free of herbicides and pesticides, treating illnesses and injuries holistically. Emphasizing animal welfare, the farm ensures relaxed and content livestock, and follows regenerative ranching practices to maintain soil health and ecological harmony.

The Rest

The farm offers a large selection of cuts at their farm stand, which is open year-round on weekends, and provides home delivery services statewide and to Westchester County, NY. Their products are also available at Chamomile Natural Foods in Danbury, CT. Customers can purchase beef in individual cuts or by the side or quarter, and pork by the side or quarter. The farm's dedication to quality and animal welfare has earned them top certifications and a loyal customer base.
