About the Farm
Background
Located 90 miles northwest of Sacramento, California, this privately owned ranch has been a continuous cattle operation with only four owners since 1875. Located in the Coastal Mountain Range, it is home to 1,000 buffalo, horses, cattle, and an abundance of wildlife.
Practices
Buffalo are fattened on sun-ripened California native grasses and live naturally among the deer and coyotes. They find shade under the oak trees and drink from the creeks and reservoirs. The ranch emphasizes natural living conditions for the buffalo, integrating them into the local ecosystem.
The Rest
The ranch sells a limited quantity of high-quality meat each year directly from the ranch. They work with customers and a local butcher to have the meat cut and wrapped exactly as desired. The meat is aged and properly packaged to be eaten immediately or frozen for future use. The ranch is located only 3 hours north of San Francisco.
