About the Farm

Background

David and Christina Beecher founded Stone Cottage Farm with a commitment to providing sustainable agricultural products and education to support the local community. The farm is named after the stone-built house. Over the years, they have become known for their registered Alpine and Nubian dairy goats, free-range chickens, and honey bees, as well as their homemade cheese and soap.

Practices

Stone Cottage Farm adheres to a philosophy of minimal intervention and natural solutions. The goats are part of a disease-free, closed herd, fed limited grain, and allowed to graze on chemical-free pastures. Antibiotics and medications are used only when absolutely necessary, with natural remedies preferred. The chickens roam freely on the same lush pastures, producing eggs with rich, dark orange yolks. The farm's hay is cut from these same fields, ensuring a closed-loop system. Beekeeping practices are similarly natural, avoiding chemicals and allowing bees to thrive and produce raw honey.

The Rest

The farm also features a large vegetable and herb garden, tended with care by the Beechers. Their two dogs, Casey and Roxy, and three cats help maintain the farm's ecosystem by keeping pests at bay. David and Christina bring a diverse set of skills to the farm, from cheesemaking and soapmaking to gardening and beekeeping, creating a vibrant and self-sustaining farm environment.
