About the Farm

Background

Stone Bridge Farm, located in Acushnet, Massachusetts, has been family owned and operated for over 25 years. The cranberry bogs were planted a quarter of a century ago and have been a staple of the farm ever since. The farm is known for its picturesque cranberry harvests, which begin in early October and feature fully ripened red fruit against the backdrop of autumn foliage.

Practices

The cranberry bogs at Stone Bridge Farm are flooded in early October for the harvest, a traditional method that helps in gathering the ripe berries. In mid-June, the bogs are a sight to behold, covered in tiny pink blossoms. The farm also maintains several bee hives, which play a crucial role in pollination, and a small flock of chickens, contributing to the farm's biodiversity and ecological balance.

The Rest

While Stone Bridge Farm no longer offers cranberry harvest tours, visitors can experience a similar adventure through Hartley Family Farms Bog Tours in Rochester, MA. The farm spans 3 acres of cranberry bogs and also includes a vegetable garden. Note that there will be no farm tours available in October of 2024.
