About the Farm

Background

The last five years have seen several exciting changes around the farm and in the family. In 2016, the farm store and creamery were constructed, and Anna, the oldest of the Stewart children, launched the dairy goat side of the business. With over 30 goats milking on a seasonal basis, Anna stays busy bottling their milk and turning it into tasty chevre cheese and ice cream mix. Daniel, the second of the Stewart children, and his wife, Hannah, worked on the farm for a few years growing vegetables before moving to Colorado. Lizzy, the third of the four Stewart children, manages the farm's social media and is always a willing taste tester on her visits home. Ian, the youngest, still lives on the farm and works as a mechanic, contributing to farm operations in his spare time. Kathy tends to her growing herd of Shetland sheep and turns their wool into yarn and knit products. Dave and Kathy invested in a robotic milking machine, which has changed their routines significantly. Despite these changes, the farm continues to thrive, maintaining its connection to the land and animals.

Practices

The farm's dairy operation works within the frame of traditional agriculture, while their growing practice is natural, using no chemical insecticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. They do not use GMO plants and try to limit even natural organic sprays. The farm emphasizes the importance of producing safe, quality produce and takes great care in their farming methods to ensure this.

The Rest

The farm offers a CSA card, a preloaded gift card that members can use at the store and at farmer's markets to buy products at a discount. The farm store, constructed in 2016, allows the family to connect with the local community and share their products. The farm also offers a Farm Box subscription with curated items from their store, delivered monthly in the Rochester area and in Corning, or available for pick up at the store. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the store, wave to the goats, and share a bit of ice cream.
