StarkFresh Urban Teaching Farm

The Urban Teaching Farm is part of StarkFresh, an organization dedicated to addressing hunger by creating pathways out of poverty. StarkFresh focuses on providing affordable and accessible food solutions in areas of food apartheid, and the farm plays a crucial role in this mission by supplying fresh produce to the StarkFresh 'Veggie Mobile' Mobile Grocery Market.

The farm employs a variety of urban gardening and farming techniques, including traditional gardening, aquaponics, and beekeeping. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in the farming process and are compensated with fresh produce. The farm also serves as an educational platform where partnering groups teach gardening, cooking, preservation, and farming techniques to the public at no cost.

The Urban Teaching Farm is home to two chickens, honeybees, and a small aquaponics system. StarkFresh also operates a seed library offering free vegetable seed packets and a Food Incubation Center to support food entrepreneurs. The organization's campus in downtown Canton, Ohio, provides a shared-use commercial kitchen, office space, and educational resources to tackle the root causes of hunger.
