About the Farm
Background
St. Croix Farm is a third-generation family farm run by the Moore family, located in Valley Falls, New York. The farm was conserved in 2009, ensuring that the land will never be developed or paved over. Known for producing pasture-raised meats, the farm has a strong commitment to land stewardship and continuous improvement in their farming practices. They partner with RuBen Hill Farm to provide pork, lamb, seasonal produce, and holiday turkeys.
Practices
St. Croix Farm employs regenerative practices to nourish their animals, environment, and customers. Cattle are pasture-fed and finished without grain, rotationally grazed throughout the growing season, and fed stored forages during the winter. Chickens and hogs are raised from Spring through Fall, pastured, and supplemented with local grain as needed. No growth hormones or antibiotics are used, and smoked meats are nitrate-free. Ethical and organic (but not certified) practices are followed to ensure the health of the land and animals.
The Rest
Products are available for pickup at the farm, allowing customers to see where their food comes from. The farm offers individual sales year-round, farm share memberships, and workplace delivery options within the Capital District area. Customers can sign up for the farm's newsletter to stay informed about upcoming farm tours and farm-to-table suppers. Contact information and a complete list of products are available on their website.
