About the Farm

Background

Donna and Bob Putnam, former urban dwellers, transitioned to rural life in late 2013 to fulfill their dream of owning and operating a small farm. They had previously assisted friends with farm chores and aimed to establish a top-quality fiber flock. Their farm, located between Holden and Kingsville, Missouri, spans 35 acres, a significant change from their former city lot.

Practices

The farm focuses on raising Finnsheep as the primary breeding population, complemented by non-breeding Wensleydale, Teeswater, and Alpaca to diversify their fleece offerings. Donna, a fiber artist, produces fine felted garments and handspun/hand-dyed yarns and rovings. The farm emphasizes a peaceful and rewarding approach to farm chores, contributing to the overall well-being of both the animals and the land.

The Rest

The farm offers a variety of wool products for sale, including wool/fleece, roving, combed top, locks, bats, yarn, and felted fiber art. They also have livestock for sale, including rams, ewes, wethers, and lambs. The farm is managed by Donna, the resident fiber artist and director of breeding and animal health, and Bob, the head of pasture management and general maintenance. Their team includes several guardian animals like Wendell and Tig, Great Pyrenees and Anatolian dogs, and Dom, a Huacaya Alpaca.
