About the Farm

Background

The South Central Farmers' CSA program was established by individuals who once cultivated the 14-acre South Central Farm, which was demolished in 2006. The initiative aims to continue their mission of providing fresh, healthy produce to the community, expanding beyond the original farm to serve a broader demographic in Los Angeles.

Practices

Certified Organic farming methods are employed, utilizing integrated pest management and biodiversity practices without any chemicals. All produce is grown and harvested on land owned by the cooperative in Bakersfield, California.

The Rest

The CSA program offers an option for individuals or groups to purchase produce boxes for delivery to those who lack access or financial means to obtain fresh produce. The program is supported by the South Central Farmers' Cooperative, a grassroots economic development initiative of the South Central Farmers' Health and Education Fund.
