About the Farm
Background
Soeltl Farm began as a small family homestead dedicated to growing wholesome food naturally for their family. As friends tasted their products, demand grew, leading them to raise a limited amount of livestock each year for those seeking healthier, naturally raised meat products. Over time, the farm has become known for its commitment to quality and humane practices.
Practices
The farm raises livestock on a diet of seeds, whole grains, local forage products, and farmstead surplus. Preventative maintenance and constant care are the first lines of defense against illness, ensuring the animals are happy and healthy. The farm strictly avoids the use of growth hormones, stimulants, and constant antibiotics, adhering to practices that prioritize the well-being of their animals.
The Rest
Soeltl Farm offers a variety of products including beef, pork, veal, goat, chicken, turkey, goose, ducks, and eggs. They also plan to offer dairy products in the future. The farm is a proud supporter and member of several local organizations, including New London County 4-H, CT Farm Bureau, and NOFA, signing the Farmers Pledge yearly since 2007. Their products are featured in various local restaurants and markets, and they have a limited client base with only a few openings for new customers.
