About the Farm
Background
After relocating from Southern California to the east coast in 2001, the family began their journey into sustainable agriculture with the purchase of two goats in 2003. Initially producing milk for personal consumption, they soon expanded into cheese making, inspired by a workshop attended by the eldest daughter, Megan. By 2012, they had received their Grade A certification and Food Manufacturing permit, launching their first cheeses at a local farmers' market. Over the years, they have grown their product line and customer base, serving markets around the eastern panhandle, northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC.
Practices
The farm focuses on producing wholesome, healthy goat dairy products with a commitment to protecting the health of their staff and community. They emphasize minimal processing and have developed a variety of cheeses through both workshops and trial and error. Their approach to farming and cheese making reflects a dedication to quality and sustainability, ensuring that their practices benefit both their community and the planet.
The Rest
The farm offers on-farm sales with procedures in place to ensure COVID-19 safety, including pre-order and pre-pay options with contactless pickup. Their product lineup includes fresh, soft-ripened, and hard-aged cheeses, Goatgurt, smoothies, goat milk caramel (Cajeta), and bottled fresh goat milk available within West Virginia. They also serve local shops, restaurants, and caterers, and encourage customers to place orders for market or farm pickup through their website.
