About the Farm
Background
Sharp’s at Waterford Farm, a 530-acre working farm located in the western part of Howard County, has been family-owned and operated since 1903. For the past 40 years, the farm has been hosting visitors, providing a range of activities for children and adults alike.
Practices
The farm emphasizes educational programs that cover composting, seeds and plants, and nature walks, fostering a connection between visitors and the land. They grow a variety of cool weather vegetables, heirloom vegetables, and culinary herbs, catering to both retail and small market gardeners. The farm also offers high-quality herbs, vegetable plants, and flowers from April to September.
The Rest
Visitors can enjoy a range of seasonal activities including free weekend hayrides to pick pumpkins, harvest popping corn, and feed farm animals in the fall. The country store is stocked with cider, apples, local honey, preserves, mums, and fall decorations. Special events such as birthday parties, private hayrides, and campfires are available, along with educational programs and open houses for schools, homeschool groups, and toddlers. The farm stay option allows guests to experience farm life for a day, a weekend, or longer.
