About the Farm
Background
Established in 1978, the farm has a long-standing tradition of chemical-free and non-GMO farming. The owner, who grew up on a local farm and has gardened for 50 years, began implementing biodynamic practices in 1990. The farm is known for its commitment to organic and biodynamic methods, offering a variety of products and educational opportunities to the local community.
Practices
The farm adheres strictly to organic and biodynamic principles, avoiding all chemicals, commercial manures, GMOs, and hybrid seeds. Compost is made on-site using horse manure and garden waste. The farm emphasizes seed saving, starting their own seedlings, and producing their own food. The philosophy is that the farmer should be both the certifier and educator, ensuring a deep, personal connection to the land and its cultivation.
The Rest
The farm offers a range of products including seeds, plants, fresh produce, jellies, medicinal herbs, salves, tinctures, fresh eggs, and Silver Fox rabbits. Handmade baskets and rib basket weaving classes are also available. Educational workshops cover topics such as gardening skills, herbal medicines, farm crafts, composting, and homestead winemaking. Products are shipped within the USA, and live plants are shipped seasonally. The farm also provides one-on-one educational gardening tours and specific training sessions.
