About the Farm
Background
Seton Harvest began its first growing season in the Spring of 2006 with 64 shareholder families, expanding to 155 by 2012. Sponsored by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul, the farm has become a successful ecological justice initiative, receiving much support from the local community. By the end of the 2012 growing season, the farm produced over 10,000 pounds of produce, donating 20% to local food banks, homeless shelters, and the poor.
Practices
Seton Harvest treats the planet as a living organism, emphasizing the interconnectedness of farming practices, ecology, and human health. The ten-acre farm includes a barn, two greenhouses, a high tunnel, and is fully irrigated, allowing for the cultivation of a diverse array of vegetables, flowers, and herbs.
The Rest
The farm recently completed a Nature Playscape, thanks to volunteer efforts and is seeking sponsors to cover some of the costs. Seton Harvest won the Leadership Everyone Award in the category of Community and Neighborhood, recognizing their contributions and commitment to the community. Share pick-up times are available on Saturdays and Tuesdays.
