About the Farm
Background
Since 2009, this farm has been cultivating 3 acres of vegetables in Wheatland, VA, just 45 miles from Washington, DC. Over the years, it has become known for producing tasty, high-quality vegetables for its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. The CSA, which celebrated its 10th anniversary, provides a steady supply of fresh, seasonal vegetables to its members from late June through mid-October.
Practices
The farm adheres to principles of sustainably-minded, ecologically-based farming. It emphasizes person-based food systems over corporate-based ones, ensuring that the vegetables are grown in a way that respects both the land and the community. The vegetables are picked at their peak and immediately cooled to maintain freshness and quality. The farm's commitment to high standards is evident in the beauty and taste of its produce.
The Rest
The CSA offers weekly shares of 6-8 different vegetables, focusing on staple varieties that members are familiar with and enjoy cooking. Each share is designed to provide a manageable quantity that can be consumed within a week. Members receive weekly emails with recipes and farm news, enhancing their connection to the farm. Pickup locations are conveniently spread across several towns, making it easy for members to collect their shares. The farm's vegetables are often praised for their exceptional freshness and beauty, delighting members with each delivery.
