About the Farm

Background

Owned and operated by Tony and Dela Ends, the farm has been a member of the Madison Area Community Supported Agriculture Coalition since 1994 and has served over 200 CSA subscribers annually from 2009 to 2011. The farm received organic certification in 2009 and has been part of the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy and several dairy goat associations. They have also been involved with the state-line Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (CRAFT) for 11 years, serving on its steering committee.

Practices

The farm employs sustainable, chemical-free practices, avoiding pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, and treated seeds. They focus on maintaining and enhancing soil fertility and water quality. The farm raises produce year-round using two high tunnel greenhouses and offers a November subscription combining hoop house greens with fall root crops. They also make goat milk soap from their own milk and natural ingredients, selling it at farmers markets and by mail order.

The Rest

The farm delivers vegetables from June through October to various neighborhoods in Madison, Janesville, and the Chicago area. They offer limited quantities of eggs to CSA members and connect them to certified organic eggs from another farm. They sponsor cooking and food preservation trainings, host on-farm events, and offer a cookbook called 'Asparagus to Zucchini' for CSA members. The farm received Frontera Farmer Foundation awards in 2009 and 2010 to upgrade their greenhouse watering capacity and mechanize planting processes. Their newest venture includes a Bed and Breakfast called Innisfree Farm Stay & Retreat, offering classes and events.
