About the Farm
Background
Owned and operated by Suzanne and Roger Wechsler, the farm spans about 200 acres in the northwest corner of Skagit County, Washington. Located close to Samish Bay and below Mount Blanchard and the Chuckanut Mountains, the farm is well-known for its mixed herd of mostly Milking Shorthorns and its commitment to organic farming.
Practices
The farm adheres to strict organic regulations and standards, ensuring 100% organic feed, and the absence of hormones or antibiotics. Livestock are given ample access to the outdoors, although they are kept off the pasture during the wet winter months to protect the fields. This approach underscores a philosophy that prioritizes animal welfare and environmental stewardship.
The Rest
In addition to dairy products, the farm offers beef, pork, and veal, all raised on-site. The farm shop features a variety of local artisan products including wine, cider, beer, juice, honey, and jams. Products are available for purchase on the farm, at farmers markets, and through a growing number of retail stores. Orders can be placed for pickup or mail order shipping via their website. The farm is open to visitors seven days a week, with specific hours listed online.
